Lottie D. Rouse, 87, of County Route 62, died peacefully , Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Glens Falls Hospital with her loving son by her side. She was the widow of George Albert Rouse who died in April 15, 1989.
Born August 20, 1924 in Eagle Bridge, NY, the daughter of Charles S. and Grace (Gates) Parker, Lottie attended the one-room school house in Eagle Bridge. After marrying George six days after her 18 birthday, August 26, 1942, she joined him at his family's homestead in Cambridge on County Route 62 and lived there the rest of her life.
As a farmer's wife she attended to the many farming chores while raising her family. Gardening, canning, cooking, even driving the tractor ,were part of her daily life.
Baking was her true forte' and she was great at it. She loved to bake for the Sunday family gatherings even though she had to rise before dawn to get everything done.
Always independent, she was determined to stay on the farm after her husband's death and did so until just a few days before her death.
Lottie was predeceased by three siblings, Charles Parker, Clara Gauthier, and Dorothy Lane, and a granddaughter, Sara Rouse.
She is survived by three children, Joseh G. Rouse and wife Nancy of Cambridge, Shirley A. Breeyear and husband Edward of Hudson Falls, and Charles M. Rouse of Cambridge; three grandchildren Edward J. Breeyear, Margaret J. Hamilton, and husband William, and Deborah A. Hamdani and husband Hashim; four great grandchildren, Amanda and Matthew Hamilton and Amira and Gabriel Hamdani and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on Thursday, April 12, 2012 from 4 to 7 PM at Ackley & Ross Funeral Home, 73 West Main Street, Cambridge. The funeral service will be on Friday, April 13 at 10 AM at the funeral home with burial following at Woodlands Cemetery.
